Insurgent. Noun. A person who acts in opposition to the established authority, who is not necessarily regarded as a belligerent. This is such a great follow up to Divergent! The momentum brought by the first book was sustained in this novel. The story is full of action and suspense which kept me on the edge of my seat. There were betrayals and double-crosses throughout the book that you wouldn't know who is working for which side and who is loyal to whom.
I still like Four's character in this book. For me, he's the same smart, sweet and tough guy from the first novel. Tris is still her reckless, suicidal self (even Four shares the same sentiments as I do). I think Tris is even more reckless and suicidal in this book than in the first.
I liked that we got the chance to know the Factionless in this novel I think it's not that bad to be Factionless as I thought it would be. It may be tough to live that way because it's like being shunned from society so food, shelter and clothing is difficult to find but at least you get to think and act whichever way you choose. Personally, I can't imagine limiting myself in a specific way of thinking so being Factionless is like being free from the constraints of being in a faction, being expected to think and act in accordance with your faction.
I was not able to say something about this in my post about Divergent but if you're reading this review, I'm assuming that you're through reading it. I can only imagine how Will's death affected Tris. It must have really been such a burden for her to carry such guilt. However, it is more painful for her to realize that when it comes to Four, she will gladly sacrifice her life but she didn't think twice about killing Will.
To what lengths will on go or do for one's life, love and beliefs? When push comes to shove, where will ones loyalty lay - to those that you love, or that which you believe in?
the value of sacrifice lies in its necessity, not in throwing your life away - Four
